Now is the time to order your 2007 edition of LCMS World Mission's Ablaze! Christmas ornaments. This engraved ornament, the first in a series, depicts the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. On a door of this church, Dr. Martin Luther is said to have nailed 95 theses on Oct. 31, 1517. This event sparked the Reformation. Therefore, the Castle Church is a fitting subject for the first in a series of ornaments that were issued by LCMS World Mission.

The artist, John Pils, was born and schooled in New York City as an interior architect and watercolorist. He and his family now live in St. Louis, where they are members of St. John Lutheran Church, Ellisville, Mo. John is a well-known and popular artist in St. Louis, where he has been illustrating and providing artwork since 1981.
